Why We Walk

22 years ago Matthew was born with pulmonary valve stenosis, a thickening of my pulmonary valve. At age 1, and again at age 14, Matthew had a surgical procedure called valvuloplasty to open his pulmonary valve. Because his procedure is relatively new and saved him from undergoing open-heart surgery twice, his family realizes how important research is in the development of new technology and treatments for heart disease and stroke! This is why his team, Matthew’s Mighty Marchers has been participating in the Heart Mini for 22 years and have raised over $190,000 for the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association.
